All NHS practices are subject to a practice inspection process, and must undergo an inspection by the local Health Board every 3 years.
One of the main aims of the Practice Support Manual (PSM) is to help practices prepare successfully for a practice inspection by providing advice in the form of brief background information and key actions for the dental team, and templates and checklists that practices can adapt for use in their own practice.
To facilitate preparation for a practice inspection, the Combined Practice Inspection checklist is provided on the Scottish Dental website. Included within the Checklist are links to specific sections of the PSM that provide advice that should help practices meet inspection requirements as well as carry out best practice. Additional references, including other SDCEP guidance, that might help practices meet inspection requirements are also included.
