Put in place a procedure for disabled patients to escape safely from the building (e.g. audiovisual alarms and the provision of special aids such as evacuation chairs to carry people with disabilities downstairs).

Check alarm systems regularly to ensure they are in working order.

Ensure that all members of staff know the emergency evacuation procedures, and test these procedures regularly.
