The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have made some changes in the processes associated with the Ionising Radiation Regulations (2017) (IRR17). These changes came into effect from 2 October 2023.
New applications for registration with HSE to work with a radiation generator (e.g x-ray device) should be made online through the Radiation, Authorisation and Notifications (RADAN) service. Registration now requires information about the extent and purpose of the work.
For those with registration to work with radiation generators granted before 1 October 2023, the HSE will contact you over the coming months to request additional information about your work with ionising radiation. In the meantime your existing registration will continue to apply.
