In a workplace that uses ionising radiation, the Employer must take legal responsibility for implementing the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17) [1] and the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 (IR(ME)R) [2]. The regulations also impose responsibilities on all employees with regard to radiation protection (see Training). This section describes the responsibilities and staff appointments that are required under these regulations.
