Fire Safety

Health and SafetyIn this section:

The Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 [1] and associated Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006 [2], and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 [3] require an employer to carry out a fire risk assessment and eliminate risk (where possible) or put controls in place to minimise risk.

The Firelaw website [4] provides information about fire law and safety in Scotland including sector-specific guidance [5]. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service [6] is the body responsible of enforcing fire legislation within Scotland. They may visit your premises to ensure that you have taken the necessary precautions to manage fire hazards within your organisation.
